Data Buoy 41008

Real Time Buoy 41008 Data
Real Time Buoy 41008 Data (fsu server)
A data buoy, 41008, from the National Data Buoy Center (NDBC), which replaced the Savannah Light Tower May 1997, is located within Gray's Reef National Marine Sanctuary boundaries (31*24'00"N, 80*52'30"W). This NDBC moored buoy will measure and transmit barometric pressure; wind direction; speed and gust; air and sea temperature; and wave energy spectra from which significant wave height, dominant wave period, and average wave period are derived. The new buoy type is a 3-Meter Discus with a circular alluminum hull. The alluminum hull type is preferable since it is less likely to corrode, and compass measurements are not affected.
